Application Deadline: Dec. 15, 2022
Location: Los Angeles, California, USA
The newly established computational quantum materials research group led by Dr. Zhenglu Li at the University of Southern California (USC) is looking for Ph.D. students to join in 2023. Li Group is in the Mork Family Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Viterbi School of Engineering at USC.
Li Group at USC is focused on developing and applying first-principles many-electron GW methods to study novel excited-state phenomena in quantum materials, in particular, electron-phonon coupling and nonequilibrium dynamics. Research topics include: electronic structure, optical properties, superconductivity, and exciton dynamics of materials. Main research directions:
1) GW perturbation theory and electron-phonon coupling in materials with non-negligible electron correlations;
2) Development of time-dependent GW approach with coupled phonon dynamics;
3) Controlling and engineering excited states in two-dimensional materials.
Motivated and interested prospective students are encouraged to directly contact Dr. Li by email: [email protected]
