Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The group of Prof. Felipe da Jornada at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University has a number of open positions for Ph.D. students in the areas of computational materials science and condensed matter physics starting January 2020. Our group is interested in a range of problems involving electronic and optical properties of real materials, with an emphasis on understanding excited-state dynamics and multiparticle excitations. We cover multidisciplinary topics from the development of first-principles theoretical formalisms to their implementation in massively parallel computer codes. More information is available on our group's website:

We invite independent and motivated students with a strong background in condensed matter physics, materials science, theoretical chemistry, and related fields to apply to the Autumn 2020 Ph.D. class (deadline Dec. 3, 2019):

The application should preferably be submitted through the Materials Science and Engineering program, though you may also apply to other Ph.D programs at Stanford. While candidates are accepted to the graduate program and not to an individual group, please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in joining the group so that I don’t miss your application.
