Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Several (2-3) fully-funded Ph.D. positions are available in the group of Prof. Diana Qiu (https://qiugroup.yale.edu/) at Yale University.

The position involves developing and applying first principles computational techniques to study excited-state properties of condensed mater systems. Our interests include modelling of light-matter interactions, theoretical spectroscopy of low-dimensional and nanostructured materials, and theory of exciton dynamics and transport, among others.

The Ph.D. candidate should hold or be in the process of finishing a Bachelor’s degree in physics, physical chemistry or a related field and have a very strong background in quantum mechanics and solid state physics. Some familiarity with programming is an advantage.

To apply, please send a CV and a brief email to Prof. Diana Qiu ([email protected]). The hiring of candidates is subject to admission to Yale’s Ph.D. programs in either Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science or Physics.
