Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Tsukuba, Japan is opening a permanent researcher position working on "Computational Science of Multi-scale Phenomena in Energy Storage and Conversion".

Research summary:

The permanent researcher will conduct elucidation of microscopic mechanisms and meso-scale behaviors in energy storage and conversion (e.g. battery, catalyst) from the viewpoints of electrochemistry and ionics, and develop the underlying theory as well as explore novel materials with better functions and longer life. In particular, she/he will be dedicated, in collaboration with the existing members, to development and application of continuum model/microkinetics/non-equilibrium technique for the meso-scale reactions and processes in the field. Moreover, if possible, she/he will explore novel theoretical/computational approaches with first-principles, molecular dynamics/Monte Carlo, as well as AI data-science.

The researcher will belong to Tateyama group (Interface Electrochemistry/Interface Computational Science group), Research Center for Energy and Environmental Materials (GREEN), and need to address meso-scale (multi-scale) simulations of battery and catalyst, together with the existing members, even if she/he has less experience. The candidates with strong expertise of any computational materials science are expected, and those who are willing to challenge novel theoretical/computational approaches are highly welcome.

Deadline for submitting application is 17 May 2023.
