Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Prof. Dr. Daria Gorelova warmly welcomes expressions of interest to join her group using the program Female Talent Fund of the Hamburg Centre for Ultrafast Imaging CUI (Germany). With this program aimed to increase a number of female PhD candidates, the CUI will consider providing an opening for a PhD position with the salary level 75% of 13 TV-L for three years. The main selection criteria would be the excellence of a candidate.

The prerequisite to participate in this program is getting in a contact with a leader of a group associated with the CUI and agreeing on a future research project. Prof. Dr. Daria Gorelova's group is associated with CUI and is affiliated with the I. Institute for Theoretical Physics at the Universität Hamburg, Germany. As a University of Excellence, Universität Hamburg is one of the strongest research universities in Germany.

The group develops methods to follow electron dynamics by means of attosecond x-ray or extreme ultraviolet (XUV) pulses using a rigorous theoretical analysis. A potential PhD project would be on the description of attosecond XUV signals from strong-field-driven electron and spin dynamics in materials. This project will involve quantum-mechanical derivation of equations, development of ab-initio tools and computations. The starting date of the PhD project can be between April and September 2022.
