Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
THEORETICAL CHEMICAL PHYSICS/PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY

Please call the attention of interested candidates to an open postdoctoral position in my research group. Our group is currently engaged in a variety of theoretical and computational studies of dynamical processes occurring at the nanoscale. We are particularly interested in developing new methods to probe and control the behavior of matter by means of external stimuli, a topic that we like to refer to as “Molecules Under Stress”. Research in the group is interdisciplinary in nature, typically at the interface between Chemistry, Physics, Optics and Nanoscience.

The open position is associated with studies that seek to advance our capabilities of using non-resonant ultrafast laser pulses of high and intermediate intensity to manipulate electronic properties and dynamics in nanoscale matter. We are interested in candidates with a strong background in any of these areas: laser-matter interactions, quantum dynamics, decoherence in open quantum systems, quantum transport and molecular structure.

Applicants are asked to send me their Curriculum Vitae via email (
[email protected]) and arrange to have two or more letters of recommendation sent to me directly via email. Past publications and a description of ongoing projects in the group can be found at http://www.chem.rochester.edu/franco_group

The University of Rochester has a strong commitment to diversity and actively encourages applications from groups underrepresented in higher education. The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
