Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Postdoctoral/PhD positions are available in the group of Alexei Kananenka at the University of Delaware, USA.

Our group focuses on theoretical and computational research at the interface of physics, chemistry, biology, and machine learning: https://sites.udel.edu/akanane/.

Possible projects include the development of:

(1) theoretical and computational methods for vibrational spectroscopy of condensed-phase systems (e.g., water, solutions, proteins, lipids)

(2) machine learning methods for spectroscopy, non-adiabatic quantum dynamics, and electronic structure

(3) machine learning force fields

(4) theoretical/computational methods to understand the role of decoherence in quantum dynamics and molecular spectroscopy

Candidate Requirements:

Postdocs: Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry or Physics. The successful candidate will be creative, ambitious, motivated, and able to work independently. Candidates with strong expertise in at least two fields including molecular dynamics, electronic-structure calculations, quantum and quantum-classical dynamics will be given priority in consideration. Strong programming skills are essential. Experience with machine learning software is a plus.

For PhD students: Graduate students may enter the PhD program after successfully
completing an M.S. degree program or may be admitted directly to the PhD program after a
Bachelor's degree. Successful candidates will be highly creative, ambitious, and motivated.
Good programming skills and some knowledge about electronic structure theory, molecular dynamics and machine learning is an advantage.
