Postdoctoral/PhD positions are available in the group of Alexei Kananenka at the University of Delaware, USA.

Our group focuses on theoretical and computational research at the interface of physics, chemistry, and biology: https://sites.udel.edu/akanane/.

Possible projects include the development of:
(1) theoretical methods and computational tools for condensed-phase spectroscopy and nonadiabatic dynamics
(2) density functional approximations
(3) machine learning tools for quantum dynamics, electronic structure calculations, and material science
(4) force fields for molecular dynamics simulations of systems with significant intermolecular interactions (e.g. hydrogen bonding).
Projects may be carried out in close collaboration with experimental groups.

Candidate Requirements:

Postdocs: Candidates must hold a PhD degree in Physics, Chemistry, Biophysics, Theoretical/Computational Chemistry.
The successful candidate will be creative, ambitious, motivated, and able to work independently.
Strong background in electronic structure method development, or molecular (quantum-classical) dynamics as well as strong programming skills are essential. Experience with machine learning software is a plus.

For PhD students: Graduate students may enter the PhD program after successfully
completing an M.S. degree program or may be admitted directly to the PhD program after a
Bachelor's degree. Successful candidates will be highly creative, ambitious, and motivated.
Good programming skills and some knowledge about electronic structure theory, molecular dynamics and machine learning is an advantage.
