The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University is now accepting applications to the PhD program. The application deadlines are November 15, 2016 for Spring 2017 and December 15, 2017 for Fall 2017.
The College of Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University holds the number 5 ranking for engineering graduate schools by US News and World Report. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering is an internationally recognized leader in materials research and education, currently ranked at number 11 for graduate programs in Materials Engineering by US News and World Report (see: https://engineering.cmu.edu/about/rankings.html).
The goal of the graduate programs in MSE is to give students an understanding of the fundamental scientific and engineering principles that govern the behavior and application of materials. The Ph.D. program takes most students 4-5 years to complete. Most coursework in the Ph.D. program is completed in the first 1-2 years. The starting stipend is $2350/month.
