Open PhD position in the Division for Computation/Simulation within the
Institute of Materials Research at the "Helmholtz Centre for Materials
and Coastal Research" near Hamburg.

We are looking for somebody with a solid background in Computational
Materials Science, Theoretical/Computational Chemistry, Physics or
Inorganic Chemistry.

The main task is the evaluation of properties of metal hydrides via
Phase Field simulations (and at a later stage First-Principles Molecular
Dynamics) for characterization, discovery and improvement of novel
hydrogen storage materials.

The candidate must be self-dependent, enjoy collaborative and
interdisciplinary work and  have a firm understanding of math and
programming. Knowledge in Quantum Chemistry highly beneficial.

Must be able to travel to our US collaboration partners at the Pacific
coast (several months per year) and represent our research at national
and international conferences.
