Applications are invited for a doctoral/masters research position immediately available (open to Summer 2022, Fall 2022, or Spring 2023) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science Graduate Program at the University of Vermont in the United States. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Jihong Ma at the University of Vermont, in collaboration with the Computational Chemistry and Nanomaterials Sciences Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory on projects related to atomistic simulations of self-healing polymers funded by the National Science Foundation. The selected candidate will be invited to visit Oak Ridge National Laboratory to conduct this research for two summers. The candidate should have a strong physics, chemistry, and mathematics background and preferably have experience in DFT, DFTB, MD, and/or MM simulations.

Interested candidates should send a CV with a publication list, a short description of research interests, a course transcript, and names of three references from previous research positions to [email protected]. Candidates will also need to apply to our Graduate Program and be admitted to the University of Vermont Mechanical Engineering graduate program or Materials Science Graduate Program.
