Dr. Christopher Sutton's research group at the University of South Carolina (USC) has multiple postdoctoral and PhD positions available. The focus will be to use computational materials science and machine learning to design new ionic conductors for batteries. This project is a highly collaborative effort involving several experimental groups at USC within a three-year initiative funded by the Department of Energy.

The postdoctoral positions are open for immediate hiring. The initial contract is for one year but is renewable annually upon mutual agreement for up to three years. The postdoctoral salary starts at $52,250 and includes health insurance. Postdoctoral candidates must have a Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field. Moreover, experience in scientific programming, atomistic simulations, and machine learning is preferred.

Interested candidates should compile the following documents into a single PDF file: A concise cover letter describing their relevant research experience and potential start date, and CV (including a list of publications and the names of 2-3 references).

Please email your application to: [email protected]

USC is located in Columbia, SC, and boasts a reasonable cost of living, diverse cultural and recreational opportunities, and easy access to both the Atlantic coast and the blue ridge mountains.
