Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

At NOMATEN Center of Excellence the groups of Stefanos Papanikolaou and Mikko Alava are looking for candidates for various projects, where advanced computational methods including first-principles calculations, molecular dynamics, machine learning, high-performance computing, and statistical mechanics are the basic toolbox. Phenomena of interest range from mechanical properties – plasticity and fracture – to the application of material informatics and machine learning in a symbiosis of simulation and experimental data. We are looking in particular for PhD students, but post-doctoral appointments come also into consideration for qualified applicants. For examples of specific projects, please see recent links on ResearchGate or http://nomaten.ncbj.gov.pl/job-vacancies. This call is part of a general effort to strengthen the CoE research activities including experimental materials science.

NOMATEN is located at the National Center for Nuclear Research in the outskirts of Warsaw, Poland (see the above web site). The CoE started operations in late 2019 and has now reached a critical mass and developed a thriving scientific atmosphere that you might become part of. We pay competitive salaries. The CoE is supported by a Teaming H2020 grant by the EC and a CoE grant by the Foundation for Polish Science.
