Multiple theoretical/computational PhD positions will be open in 2017-2018 in the Department of Chemistry at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Research positions entail developing new theoretical and computational tools for studying potential energy landscapes and strongly correlated systems. More specifically, the Stratt Group is seeking students interested in understanding the dynamics of molecules in ordinary and supercooled liquids, with a focus on using statistical mechanics to discern the mechanisms of ultrafast -- and ultraslow -- molecular motion in a variety of condensed phase contexts. The Rubenstein Group is seeking students interested in harnessing the power of a variety of electronic structure methods commonly used in the physics community to study strongly correlated molecular and solid state systems.
