Join a world class team of engineers, researchers, architects, and leadership at the forefront of computing and artificial intelligence, and help us develop and roll out the next generation of computational solutions for chemistry and material science. 

Responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Deploy and co-design high-performance computing infrastructure solutions for computational chemistry and materials science workloads on Azure 
  • End to end deployment of HPC infrastructure in Azure 
  • Communicate with end users and platform engineers in a timely and professional manner 
  • Monitor system event logs, determine cause of errors and troubleshoot them 
  • Improve and optimize the infrastructure together with the team, based on learnings and customer requests  
  • Benchmark and tune performance of computational chemistry & materials packages, such as LAMMPS, Gromacs, OpenMM, Quantum ESPRESSO, on Azure  
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary team during Redmond, WA business hours 

Required skills for this role: 

  • Background in DevOps, i.e., scripting, automation and orchestration using languages/tools such as Python, bash, ansible, GitHub actions, etc.   
  • Experience in software engineering, and collaborative software development, with proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language relevant to scientific computing, such as Python, C/C++, Fortran 
  • Fluent on the Linux terminal
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical and organizational skills  
  • A passion for learning new technologies and ramping up quickly 

Beneficial skills: 

  • BSc, MSc, or Ph.D. in computer science, computational chemistry/materials science or related field 
  • Proven background in Linux Systems administration  
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing, both as a user and/or as a developer of parallel/accelerated applications 
  • Familiarity with HPC offering on Azure 
  • Background in writing high-quality documentation 
  • Familiarity with scheduler systems (e.g., Slurm, PBS, Kubernetes, …)  
  • Experience with containers/microservices
