A postdoc position is available immediately in our Quantum Chemistry research group at BASF SE. You will actively contribute towards our ongoing internal efforts of developing FAIR data strategies primarily but not limited to materials simulation data. You will work with public data sources and our in-house data platform and contribute towards strategic data integration efforts. Being actively engaged with research projects within BASF, you will explore innovative data-driven concepts. In addition to being familiar with materials simulation software like VASP, Quantum Espresso etc, this position requires a blend of technical skills in IT, data science and machine learning domains. The position is initially available for one year which can potentially be extended to a subsequent year based on mutual agreement.

 Desired skills:

•   Recent PhD in Physics, chemistry or materials science focusing on materials modelling themes

•   Hands-on experience with programmatic access of public data sources like Materials Project, Nomad, OQMD, Materials Cloud etc.

•   Strong background in Python code development and familiarity with the libraries and frameworks relevant for establishing reusable data pipelines, handling databases and building RESTAPI  and web apps.   

•  Experience with Machine learning algorithms relevant to our domain is preferable
