At our group, we are dedicated to pioneering the next generation of clean energy materials through a fusion of quantum mechanical calculations and machine learning techniques. Our mission is to accelerate the development of materials for clean energy technologies such as catalysts and hydrogen storage materials for a sustainable future.

Focus: Quantum Mechanical Calculations and machine learning techniques for Clean Energy Materials Design

Location: Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada.

Job Description: As a Graduate Student Researcher you will play a pivotal role in our ground-breaking research projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting quantum mechanical calculations to elucidate the behaviour of materials at the atomic level.
  • Developing and implementing machine learning models to predict materials properties, catalytic activity, and hydrogen storage capabilities.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to tackle clean energy materials challenges.
  • Analyzing data from quantum simulations and experiments to guide the development of ML models.
  • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in quantum mechanics, machine learning, and clean energy technologies.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • M.Sc. degree in engineering, chemistry, engineering physics, or applied physics.
  • A strong background in materials science, chemistry, physics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in using and developing machine learning models or Proficiency in quantum mechanical calculations software and techniques is essential.
  • Programming skills in Python or another relevant language is essential.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
