Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A fully funded PhD position for UK students in theory of condensed matter and nanoscale electronics is available in the Device Modelling group at University of Warwick. This studentship will pay a stipend to cover maintenance as well as paying the university fees and research training support. The stipend is at the standard UKRI rate (for 2019/20 that is £15,009 per annum).

The funding is only for UK students and those EU students who have been resident in the UK for the past three years.

The project aims to exploit electronic and vibrational properties of nanoscale materials for nanoelectronic applications. The research includes the investigation of quantum, spin and heat transport through molecular structures for functional quantum devices. The successful candidate will receive a broad training on computational materials modelling and gain experience with cutting edge quantum transport simulation methods, conduct a vibrant research project with publication potential and would have opportunities to conduct collaborative projects with internationally leading experimental groups in the UK and abroad.

We are looking for an enthusiastic student from across physical science or engineering disciplines. Experience with molecular scale simulation is desirable but not essential.

To apply, please send your CV including your BSc/MSc GPA and publication list to Dr. H. Sadeghi ([email protected])
