Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A fully funded PhD position in the field of theoretical condensed-matter physics and ultrafast science is available in the group of Fabio Caruso at the University of Kiel, Germany. The position is funded as part of the MSCA doctoral network “Time-resolved simulations of ultrafast phenomena in quantum materials” (https://times.uv.es/) and the establishment of a strong synergy with other theory groups of the network is to be expected.

The PhD student will work in the area of theoretical condensed-matter physics in the research group of Prof. Fabio Caruso (https://cs2t.de). She/he will develop and apply novel ab-initio methods to study electron-phonon interactions in quantum materials out of equilibrium. Priority will be given to candidates with former experience in the areas of first-principles electronic-structure calculations and Fortran/Python programming.

The PhD positions is limited to three years. Competitive remuneration should be expected.

Applicants should have a Master (or equivalent) degree in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science and a strong background in solid-state physics. Interested candidates should apply via the following link:
