The Department of Physics at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a faculty position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics. This appointment will be in the tenure track at the Assistant Professor level and will begin with the Fall Semester of 2019, or thereafter. The target specialization area within condensed matter theory is quantum materials, interpreted in a broad sense. Quantum materials includes strongly correlated materials, topological materials, nanoscale quantum phenomena and materials, data based targeted materials prediction. The department is interested in computational as well as analytical theorists that supplement and support the existing theory and experimental activities.
Qualifications
All candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in physics or a related area and have the potential to teach physics effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and to attract external funding to establish a strong and independent research program. Ample opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research exist in the department and the university, and participation in these endeavors is encouraged. The standard teaching load is one course per semester.
