Description (field, expectations, comments):
Faculty of Chemistry at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, invites applications for an assistant professor position in the general field of computational chemistry, quantum chemistry, theoretical spectroscopy, and materials modeling. The candidate’s research profile should complement and connect with the existing expertise of the Molecular Modeling Group in the Department of Chemistry of Materials, Adsorption, and Catalysis https://www.chem.umk.pl/en/molmod/. In particular, we seek candidates with expertise in the following research areas:
• computational photophysics and photochemistry;
• theoretical modeling of excited states of fluorophores in condensed phases;
• ab-initio and non-adiabatic excited-state molecular dynamics;
• solid-state molecular modeling;
• development of quantum chemistry methods;
• machine learning approaches in photophysics, photochemistry and/or material science;
• multiscale materials modeling.

However, we will be happy to consider all applications where the researcher complements the
competencies of our group and meets high scientific standards. The candidate is also expected to benefit from the University Centre of Excellence “Astrophysics and Astrochemistry” https://astrochem.umk.pl/en/.

The position is limited to 33 months and may be extended permanently after a positive evaluation.

Offer requirements:

The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and fulfill the following qualification criteria:
• Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field;
• Excellent scientific achievements in computational/quantum chemistry;
• A track record of being the leading author (first or corresponding author) is essential;
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English;
• Eagerness to perform research and build an independent research group;

• Declaration of conducting research in the field of chemistry.
