In partnership with the University at Buffalo, Harris Search Associates has recently launched the search for the next Director of the Institute for Computational and Data Sciences (ICDS). ICDS is a partnership between UB’s Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering (CDSE) https://www.buffalo.edu/icds/programs-and-degrees/cdse.html program and UB’s Center for Computational Research (CCR) https://www.buffalo.edu/icds/about/center-for-computational-research.html. ICDS is an interdisciplinary, collaborative effort between six UB schools including the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; the College of Arts and Sciences; the School of Management; the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; and the School of Public Health, and Health Professions offering a doctoral program of study in CDSE; a Professional Master’s degree in data science and applications; and a Master’s degree in engineering science with a focus on data science. ICDS also coordinates undergraduate and professional courses in data science topics.
UB seeks candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse team environment; demonstrate leadership to creatively engage local, state, and national constituents; and to enhance the research, educational, and outreach activities of ICDS to ensure UB’s prominence as a leader in computational and data science research and education across a range of rapidly evolving fields.
Preferred candidates for the position as ICDS Director will have a record of qualifications including scholarly accomplishments, teaching experience, a sustained and externally funded research program, and have demonstrated commitment to collaborative research and educational activities. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Full Professor in one of the departments of the six collaborative schools.
