COMPUTATIONAL SCIENTIST - MULTISCALE ELECTROCHEMICAL EMBEDDING
http://theossrv1.epfl.ch/uploads/Main/Openings/2016_05_EPFL_ENVIRON.pdf
An opening for a computational scientist is available immediately at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in the laboratory for Theory and Simulation of Materials (THEOS), headed by Prof. Nicola Marzari (see http://theossrv1.epfl.ch and http://marvel-nccr.ch for further information).
The position, funded by the Swiss Platform for Advanced Scientific Computing, is dedicated to the development, application, and optimisation of multi-scale electrochemical embedding (http://www.quantum-environ.org) on parallel and hybrid architectures, also in collaboration with the group of Prof. Stefan Goedecker at the University of Basel.
Candidates are sought with passion and commitment for the field and with a strong computational background. Experience in high-performance computing, GPU parallelisation, or in http://www.quantum-espresso.org is a major advantage.
Evaluation of applications will commence immediately, and continue until the position is filled. Initial appointment will be for a year; gross salary is dependent on experience, starting at 75,000 CHF and 81,400 CHF for candidates holding, respectively, a M.Sc. or a PhD. Applicants should submit a brief letter of intent and a curriculum vitae (the latter including grade transcripts, work and programming experience, and the names of two references) to Prof. Nicola Marzari and to Dr. Oliviero Andreussi ([email protected] and [email protected]). Please put “EPFL ENVIRON” in the subject line and submit both documents in PDF.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted individually for interviews, usually over Skype videoconferencing.
