Position Summary:
Berkeley Lab’s Energy Storage & Distributed Resources Division has an opening for a Chemist Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of high-throughput molecular simulations for solvents, electrolyte salts and additives by first-principles/classical force-field methodologies, within the scope of Joint Center for Energy Storage Research (JCESR) battery hub. You conduct cutting-edge research and datamining to investigate and predict transport, stability, and redox properties across the world of known molecular materials and beyond. This position will be supervised by Dr. Kristin Persson: http://perssongroup.lbl.gov/

What You Will Do:
• Perform high-throughput quantum/classical molecular simulations geared towards transport, stability and redox properties.
• Integrate the properties within the Materials Project infrastructure.
• Perform calculations to predict thermodynamic and kinetic properties.
• Develop codes as necessary to extend existing high-throughput and data storage code frameworks.
• Communicate the results in presentations and publications.

What Is Required:
• Ph.D. in physics/chemistry/materials science or a related field is required.
• Experience in electronic structure/classical MD calculations.
• Excellent object-oriented code development expertise.
• The ability to work as an independent researcher with a high level of scientific judgment and initiative.
• Participate in collaborative efforts as a member of a diverse research team.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in Python.
