We are currently looking for an assistant professor to work in the field of  electronic structure theory in the Section for Theoretical Atomic-scale Physics  (CAMD) at the Department of Physics, Technical University of Denmark  (DTU).

Responsibilities and tasks
The successful  candidate will work within theoretical and computational physics and have the  responsibility for developing new computational methods within electronic  structure theory and to apply them to improve the understanding and design of  materials at the atomic/electronic scale.

The candidate is expected to  both strengthen and supplement the existing activities within the section.  Research efforts within application areas, which will benefit from collaboration  with experimental activities in the department, are particularly  welcome.

The candidate will also contribute to the teaching and teaching  development at the  Department.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD  degree in physics or equivalent. The candidate must have a strong background in  electronic structure theory of condensed matter including experience with  theoretical developments, computational implementation, and applications. The  candidate is expected to have extensive experience with density functional  theory and many-body physics.

Assessment
In the  assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to

  • experience in teaching and education
  • scientific production and research potential at an international level
  • the ability to promote and utilize research results
  • an all-round experience basis, preferably including international experience
  • the ability to contribute to development of the department’s internal and  external cooperation

For the specific position, consideration will also be given to:

  • the ability to attract funding from both national and international sources
  • the research plan supplied by the candidate

Salary and terms  of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective  agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance  will be agreed with the relevant union.

The post of assistant professor  is a permanent post as part of which the employee after a maximum of 4 years  transfers to a position as associate professor provided that the employee is  recommended for assessment and is deemed qualified.
