The Physics Department of Ecole Polytechnique, France, considers hiring two assistant professors
in physics, in fields potentially related to electronic structure theory:

1) Assistant professor in condensed matter theory

The physics department of Ecole Polytechnique considers hiring a full-time Assistant Professor in condensed matter theory. Particular attention will be paid to experts in the domain of strongly correlated electron physics, with emphasis on ab initio many body techniques. The candidate will hold a PhD in physics. She or he will have several years of experience in research and teaching at the university level. An international experience will be appreciated.

Candidates are required to provide a summary of their research and teaching achievements, a research project evidencing good insertion in the research activities of the condensed matter group of the Center of Theoretical Physics (CPHT), a teaching project and the names of 3 referees for a letter of recommendation. The teaching project should address in particular the Bachelor track (in English language), but will also imply the Cycle Ingénieur of Ecole polytechnique. We are seeking for a personality with confirmed pedagogical skills.

Deadline for application: 19/2/2018
Start Date: 1/9/2018

2) Assistant professor in photovoltaics and related fields

The physics department of Ecole Polytechnique considers hiring a full-time Assistant Professor in physics. Particular attention will be paid to experts in the physics of photovoltaic conversion and related topics suitable for a fruitful insertion in the research activities of the new research laboratory IPVF (Institut Photovoltaïque d'Ile-de-France). Characterisation or simulation of photovoltaic materials and devices, investigations on innovative conversion schemes, are possible examples. The candidate will hold a PhD in physics. She or he will have several years of experience in research and teaching at the university level. An international experience will be appreciated.

Candidates are required to provide a summary of their research and teaching achievements, a research project evidencing good insertion in the research activities of the new laboratory IPVF dedicated to photovoltaic research, a teaching project and the names of 3 referees for a letter of recommendation. The teaching project should address in particular the Bachelor track (in English language), but will also imply the Cycle Ingénieur of Ecole polytechnique. We are seeking for a personality with confirmed pedagogical skills.
