Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

A two-year postdoctoral position in theory and stochastic computations of magnetization dynamics.

Scientific context:
This project is multidisciplinary and fundamental in nature. It lies in the intersection between developing stochastic methods for quantum dynamics in large fermionic systems and applications in the dynamics of magnetism.

Description of the position:
In particular the successful candidate will have responsibility for leading, develop, executing and analyzing new quantum mechanical calculations for, initially the Hubbard model, and subsequently, material realistic modelling of ultrafast magnetization dynamics. The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the small but growing group of Solid State Physics (link: https://www.oru.se/english/research/research-subjects/physics/), which belong to the unit of mathematics, at Örebro University (ORU) (link: https://www.oru.se/english/working-at-orebro-university/) with 1,500 employees and the university has about 15,000 students.

About Örebro:
Örebro is located right in the middle of Sweden and with its 750 years of history it is one of the oldest towns in the country. Örebro is conveniently close to Stockholm (200 km), Gothenburg and Oslo (both 300 km), and this attractive location makes it a popular site for business and an excellent venue for conferences and trade shows. Within one hour of travel you reach the four largest lakes in Sweden and beautiful nature for outdoor activities for each season.

Position summary:
Full time research scholarship for two years with a non-taxable salary of 25.000 SEK/month.

Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field of many-body physics. Experience of programming to solve new physical problems and good communication skills in English are required. Expertise in state-of-the-art quantum mechanical methods is meriting.
