Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

TOPIC: 2 postdoc research fellow position is available in the School of Physical Sciences, National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), India.

About the project

Our group focuses on forefront development and computational methods at the interface of physics, chemistry, and materials science (http://www.niser.ac.in/~psamal/). The topic of our current research projects deals with the application of novel approaches in the field of ground and excited-state properties of materials. Also, we develop various density functional methods to understand the material properties. To understand the properties of the material, we use various freely and commercially available codes such as Quantum Espresso, WIEN2k, VASP, and FHI-AIMS. Our various developed methods are interfaced with the aforementioned codes. Application of our developed methods in material science such as excited-state properties, topological phases of solids, structural phase transition, and transition metal dichalcogenides, heterostructures of 3D and 2D systems, and oxide systems will allow unprecedented new insight in the field of material research. The project may be carried out in collaboration with other groups. Our recent important publications are:

1. https://arxiv.org/abs/2112.09022

2. J. Phys. Chem. C 125, 7, 4284-4291 (2021)

3. Phys. Rev. B 102 (15), 155107 (2020)

4. https://journals.aps.org/prb/abstract/10.1103/PhysRevB.102.045135

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for motivated, creative, ambitious candidates who can work with other group members. Prior knowledge of those codes will be a plus point but not desirable. Interested candidates should send a cover letter with their Curriculum Vitae directly to Prof. Prasanjit Samal (email:[email protected]).

For postdoc, we offer a 1-year contract (possibly with extension), a competitive salary as well as a vibrant, inspiring environment with cutting-edge resources. The candidate must have Ph.D. degree (either provisional or completed). Candidates only from theoretical physics or material sciences are encouraged to apply.

Applications

Interested applicants are encouraged to send their application documents (cover letter, CV, publication list, diplomas, description of research experience and motivation, names of at least two academic references) as one pdf document per e-mail to Prof. Prasanjit Samal (email:[email protected]). Start date: as soon as possible.
