Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

The European Training Network TADFlife Using the smart matrix approach to enhance TADF-OLED efficiency and lifetime has open the call for the application for 15 PhD positions in Europe. The official call site is https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/324499

The network is focused on the development and optimizations of materials for OLEDs, based on the thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) process. The network comprises universities and companies in Germany, UK, Italy, Ukraine, Lithuania, Netherlands and Switzerland. The positions include interdisciplinary training, internships in European and Non-European countries, summer schools and yearly international meetings.

University of Parma (UNIPR) will hire 2 motivated students, that will contribute to the research work investigating environmental effects (ESR5) and excited states dynamics (ESR6) mainly from a theoretical perspective.

ESR5. Excited state engineering: environmental effects Working in close contact with experimentalists, the PhD student will investigate mainly from a theoretical perspective the excited state properties and photophysics of TADF systems. Special attention will be devoted to environmental effects: polarity, polarizability, viscosity etc. Parametric Hamiltonians will be proposed, to be implemented and validated against experiment and first-principle calculations.

Requirements: M.Sc. in Chemical or Physical Sciences or equivalent graduation. Computer programming skills, solid knowledge basis in quantum mechanics applied to chemical problems. English proficiency as communication language.

ESR6. From isolated molecules to materials: relaxation of excited states

Working in close contact with experimentalists, the PhD student will investigate mainly from a theoretical perspective the excited state dynamics of TADF systems towards the understanding of relaxation pathways in complex matrices. Parametric Hamiltonians describing the TADF dye, developed and parametrized against experiments and first principle calculations, will be coupled to a dissipative bath to describe the fate of photoexcited states

Requirements: M.Sc. in Chemical or Physical Sciences or equivalent graduation. Computer programming skills, solid knowledge basis in quantum mechanics also applied to open quantum systems. English proficiency as communication language.

ESR 5 & 6

Start date (planned): 01. Oct. 2018 – 28. Feb. 2019

Monthly Salary*: 3410€ + 600€ Mobility allowance + 250€ Family allowance
