Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

18-month Postdoc Position

We invite applications for an 18-month postdoc position in the group of Michele Casula at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. We are looking for talented and highly motivated candidates. We plan to apply stochastic electronic structure methods for studying correlated quantum materials from the first principles. A particular focus will be given to the development of a framework where both electrons and ions are treated quantum, which is of particular interest for hydrogen-rich materials and superhydrides.

The position can be filled at the earliest convenience. It is offered within the European Center of Excellence TREX – “Targeting Real chemical accuracy at the Exascale”. The TREX center of excellence develops and applies quantum mechanical simulations in the framework of quantum Monte Carlo. This methodology encompasses various techniques at the high-end in the accuracy ladder of electronic structure approaches and is uniquely positioned to fully exploit the massive parallelism of the upcoming exascale architectures. See https://trex-coe.eu/ for further information.

Postdoc candidates should have a PhD in physics or chemistry, or in a closely related field, with a good understanding of condensed matter physics, and with an interest in methods development.

The candidates should submit a letter, including CV and names/email addresses of 2 or more references, to Michele Casula ([email protected]).
