Job announcements relevant to people interested in electronic structure calculations…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We advertise the opening of a Postdoc position in "Molecular Dynamics simulations of membrane proteins and receptors" at the Physics Departement of the University of Trento, Italy.

The successful candidate is expected to apply molecular dynamics simulations to investigate globular proteins, transmembrane proteins and proteins anchored to membrane bilayers. The chosen systems often present two or more resolved (or putative) structures: molecular dynamics simulations will be employed to explore and characterize the structures corresponding to these local minima, while enhanced sampling techniques will provide insights into the possible pathways for the required conformational changes. Coarse grained models will be also employed, whenever possible, and their validity will be assessed through comparison with allatoms simulations. The candidate will collaborate with all the members of the research group to explore the possibility of applications of the onsite developed multiscale approaches. The candidate is also expected to interact directly with experimental collaborators, with the aim to provide a molecular rationale for the biological mechanisms of the chosen systems.

The post-doc is funded by the NextGenerationEU program (Starting date May 2023). The gross salary is 28 KEuros/year, for a period of two years. The first deadline for application is the 28th  of March 2023.

The interested candidate should hold a PhD in Theoretical Physics or Theoretical Chemistry and have experience in the field of molecular dynamics simulations.

The postdoc will join the Statistical and Biological Physics group at the Department of Physics at the University of Trento.
The group is headed by Gianluca Lattanzi, Raffaello Potestio and Luca Tubiana in a very friendly environment of research with excellent computational facilities. The group is a member of the National Center for High Performance Computing funded by the recent NextGenerationEU program.

The University of Trento is ideally situated in the heart of the Dolomites, in a region protected by UNESCO world heritage with independent administration from the rest of the country (Autonomous Province of Trento). Equality and cultural diversity are among the founding principles of our University.
