Messages from the Psi-k trustees and other topics of relevance to the Psi-k community, e.g. community-led software codes or databases…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are thrilled to announce the publication of the results from our survey "What is your experience with simulation codes ?" on the utilization of materials science, quantum chemistry, and solid-state physics codes. Over the last decades, the field of computational materials science has witnessed remarkable advancements, offering a multitude of possibilities and advanced capabilities. However, amidst this vast landscape, it can be challenging to navigate and determine the optimal tools or combinations for specific tasks, understand the current and future needs of the community, and gauge the overall sentiments within the field.

Recognizing the complexity of these questions, our survey aimed to provide a clearer
understanding of the needs of our community and to steer future directions. By doing so, we aspire to support the ongoing development of high-quality software for chemistry and materials simulation. We express our sincere gratitude to all survey participants for sharing their invaluable insights, which have greatly contributed to the depth and richness of our findings. Together, we can propel the community towards further advancements in the field.
