Online course on Density Functional Theory (No replies)
Back to General announcements...
Dear colleagues,
we would like to draw your attention to a new online course on Density Functional Theory
(DFT).
https://www.coursera.org/learn/density-functional-theory
The aim of this course is to give an introduction to DFT. In particular, we explain the
most important concepts and the fundamental ideas, and we will stress the features and
reasons that made DFT such a succesful and widely used method for simulating quantum
mechanical systems.
The course is intended for students and researchers with knowledge of basic quantum
mechanics. No experience in simulation or application of solid-state physics is required.
We give a concise summary of the mathematical background when particular concepts are
needed.
The course was conceived and implemented by Francesco Sottile and Lucia Reining, with
participation of friends and colleagues of the European Theoretical Spectroscopy Facility
(ETSF), in particular Carsten Ullrich, Georg Michelitsch and Jack Wetherell. The lectures
have been constructed, recorded, and edited, by the e-learning pole of the Ecole
Polytechnique, with support from a grant of the Drahi Foundation.
All the best,
Francesco and Lucia
