General announcements

Messages from the Psi-k trustees and other topics of relevance to the Psi-k community, e.g. community-led software codes or databases…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

We are pleased to announce the release of v1.2 of the large scale DFT code Conquest.  This release includes a number of new features listed below, along with bug fixes and code polishing, and updates to the manual.

  • Implementation of the modern theory of polarisation (using Resta’s formulation for large unit cells)

  • Implementation of atom-projected DOS (as a post-processing step)

  • Initial version of test suite (for continuous integration)

  • Initial version of ASE compatibility (to be merged into main ASE release soon)

The code is freely available under an MIT licence at https://github.com/OrderN/CONQUEST-release/ with the manual available on-line at https://conquest.readthedocs.io/.  The release includes a complete set of pseudopotentials (the PseudoDojo set of norm-conserving potentials, for LDA, PBE and PBEsol) and a utility for generating basis sets of varying precision.

David Bowler, Tsuyoshi Miyazaki, Ayako Nakata, Lionel Truflandier
