Dear Colleagues,

This is a kind reminder that the deadline for registering to the 2022 School on Electron-Phonon Physics from First Principles (June 13-19, 2022, Austin TX) is this week.

This school is the third event of a series that started in 2018 with the “First International School on Electron-Phonon Physics from First Principles” (International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste), and continued with a virtual event in 2022, the “Virtual School on Electron-Phonon Physics and the EPW Code”.

This year the school will be held in person at the University of Texas, Austin. We have funding availability from the U.S. National Science Foundation to support travel and accommodation of graduate students and postdocs currently based at U.S. institutions.

This school will introduce participants to advanced first-principles calculations of electron-phonon physics and related materials properties. It will include lectures and hands-on training sessions on the following topics:

 * Density-functional perturbation theory

* Maximally-localized Wannier functions

* Boltzmann transport equation for carrier transport

* Migdal-Eliashberg theory of phonon-mediated superconductivity

* Phonon-assisted indirect optical absorption

* Polaronic states and self-trapping

* Special displacement method for finite-temperature calculations

* Ab initio many-body methods for electron-phonon physics

* GW quasiparticle calculations and GW perturbation theory

The school will be based on the EPW code, Quantum ESPRESSO, Wannier90, and BerkeleyGW. Hands-on training sessions will be held on the supercomputers of TACC, the Texas Advanced Computing Center.

Lectures and tutorials will be held from Monday 13 to Friday 17 June. The weekend of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 June will host a hackathon event for those interested in becoming familiar with the architecture of the codes. During the school we will visit to the Texas Advanced Computing Center and meet with their HPC team.

Full details on the school and the application process can be found here:

https://epw2022.oden.utexas.edu/

The application deadline is March 4, and successful applicants will be notified by March 18.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the school,
Roxana Margine, Samuel Poncé, Emmanouil Kioupakis, Hyungjun Lee, and Feliciano Giustino
