Dear colleagues,
We would like to invite you to submit abstracts to the symposium devoted to the topic of “Integrated Computational Grain Boundary Engineering” (ICGBE) held within the framework of the Thermec’2020 conference in Vienna, Austria on May 31-June5, 2020.
The symposium is the continuation of the ICGBE workshops and symposia successfully held over the past few years within the framework of the Thermec conference series. The main idea of the symposium is to have an open discussion on the state of the art of grain boundary and interface segregation investigations by means of theoretical and experimental methods. Currently available experimental and theoretical tools already allow one to obtain rather accurate data on the structure and chemical composition of interfaces in solid state. However, a question of a “correct” comparison between theoretical and experimental data, questions of interpretation and validity of these data are still open in many cases.
At the upcoming Thermec2020, we would like to continue a joint discussion among the experts in the field on the current status of understanding, modeling and relevance of segregation to various applied problems of materials science. New methods and approaches for accurate description and characterization of interfaces at the atomic level have their own niche at the symposium and researchers actively working in this field are strongly encouraged to apply.
The abstract submission deadline is October 4, 2019. Abstracts can be submitted via the official conference website https://www.tugraz.at/events/thermec-2020/home/ under the topic of “Integrated Computational Grain Boundary Engineering.”
