We are pleased to announce the symposium on polarons and excitons at the Psi-k conference in Lausanne, August 22–25, 2022 (https://www.psik2022.net/home).

The symposium aims at bringing new insights into the mentioned topics by a mixture of Invited Talks, Contributed Talks and posters. The submission of contributions is now possible. Participants have until May 31 to submit an abstract to be considered for an oral presentation.

Symposium Summary: Electron-phonon and electron-electron interaction pose a great challenge to describing the electronic, optical and transport properties of materials such as oxides and organic semiconductors and affect dramatically their functionalities. They lead to quasiparticle effects and interesting physics such as polaron self trapping. This symposium discusses the latest developments in the first-principles description of polarons and excitons and their implications for different applications. It covers approaches spanning from density functional theory to many-body treatments.
