Announcements of conferences, workshops, schools…

Due to the large number of posts recently, there is currently a delay of several weeks between posts being submitted and the corresponding emails being distributed to all users. Please bear with us while we try to improve this. In the meantime – and until this notice is removed – it would assist us considerably if you could submit only important and/or urgent posts and thus help to reduce the size of the mail queue. Under no circumstances should you resend posts multiple times when you find the emails are not distributed immediately.

In light of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine, we request that announcements relating to events, jobs and other activities associated with institutions supported by the Russian and Belarusian states are not posted to the Psi-k forum.

Dear Colleagues,

With this email we would like to draw your attention to the symposia

C5: "New physics in 2D materials and van der Waals multilayers"
C7: "Twisted bilayer materials"

which will be held as part of the Psi-k conference 2022 in Lausanne (August 22nd-25th 2022).

The symposium C5 will focus on recent advances in the field of two-dimensional (2D) materials where new physics arises as a result of quantum- and dielectric confinement and manifests itself in the form of anisotropy-driven magnetism, charge density waves, novel superconducting phases, and complex excitonic states.

The symposium C7 deals with recent advances in the booming field of twisted bilayer materials: flat bands, superconductivity, Mott insulator, topological phases, and other phenomena. In particular, we will discuss how ab-initio and semi-empirical approaches can be combined to unravel new physics.

The deadline for the abstract submission for presentation of a contributed talk to the symposium is May 31st.

    Sincerely,

    The organizers,
Kristian Thygesen, Fabio Caruso, Johannes Lischner, Thomas Olsen, Ludger Wirtz
