SPR-KKR hands-on course on magnetism and spectroscopy

22 - 25 November, Daresbury Laboratory, UK

We are pleased to announce that the postponed CECAM Flagship School on the SPR-KKR code and its applications to magnetism and spectroscopy will now be held 22-25 November at Daresbury Laboratory, UK.

The hands-on course will focus on electronic structure calculations based on the KKR band structure methodology. This approach, based on multiple scattering theory, gives access to the Greens function of both ordered and disordered systems, as well as layered systems, surfaces, and clusters in real space.

The Munich SPR-KKR code is a uniquely powerful software package implementing a wide variety of spectroscopy, transport, and magnetic properties. The fundamentals of KKR will be taught as well as hands-on tuition on how to setup and run practical calculations for these properties.

This hands-on course will be of interest to both theoreticians and experimentalists working in different areas of materials science.  Participants are encouraged to submit posters and present them at the course.

Accommodation in nearby Chester, lunch and coach transport to the laboratory will be provided.  A laptop computer will be required.  The school is sponsored by CECAM and CCP9.

Please register at https://cvent.me/A34qm8 (a registration fee of £100 applies).

On behalf of the organisers:

Hubert Ebert, Jerome Jackson, Jan Minár, Leon Petit
