27 - 30 April 2020, Daresbury Laboratory, UK
We are pleased to announce the CECAM Flagship School on the SPR-KKR code and its applications to magnetism and spectroscopy, to be held 27 - 30 April at Daresbury Laboratory, UK.
The hands-on course will focus on electronic structure calculations based on the KKR band structure methodology. This approach, based on multiple scattering theory, gives access to the Greens function of both ordered and disordered systems, as well as layered systems, surfaces and clusters in real space.
The Munich SPR-KKR code is a uniquely powerful software package implementing a wide variety of spectroscopy, transport and magnetic properties such as ARPES, core level photoemission, magneto-optics or the calculation of Heisenberg exchange interactions including multi-spin and anisotropic terms (and more). The fundamentals of KKR will be taught as well as hands-on tuition on how to setup and run practical calculations for these properties.
This hands-on course will be of interest to both theoreticians and experimentalists working in different areas of materials science. Participants are encouraged to submit posters and present them at the course.
Accommodation in nearby Chester (https://www.mercurechester.co.uk), lunch and coach transport to the laboratory will be provided. A laptop computer will be required. The school is sponsored by CECAM, CCP-magnetism and CCP9.
Please register at http://www.cvent.com/d/qhqh56 (a registration fee of £50 applies).
