registrations and abstract submissions are now open for the Royal Society Scientific Meeting "Nucleation: past and future challenges for experiment, theory and simulation", to be held on 5-6 September 2016, Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire, MK16 9JJ, UK.

Nucleation is a fundamental process crucial to a surprising array of different technological and everyday phenomena, from drug design to the formation of clouds. This meeting will bring together the key players in the field, taking stock of the latest developments in experiment and simulation as well as addressing the most pressing challenges to be faced in the near future.

The list of invited speakers includes (alphabetical order):

Liane Benning (University of Leeds), Jim de Yoreo (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), Davide Donadio (University of California - Davis), Julian Gale (Curtin University), Matthew I. Gibson (University of Warwick), Tuomas Knowles (Univeristy of Cambridge), Carolyn A. Koh (Colorado School of Mines), Thomas Koop (Bielefeld University), Valeria Molinero (University of Utah), Baron Peters (University of California - Santa Barbara), Andela Saric (University College London), Richard Sear (University of Surrey), Nico Sommerdijk (Eindhoven University) and Chantal Valeriani (Universidad Complutense de Madrid).

The meeting is organised in four sessions, namely:

  • Crystallisation from Solution
  • Ice Nucleation
  • Simulation Methods and Experimental Techniques
  • Colloids and Biomolecules

A poster session will also be held on September 5th
