Recent Appointees in Materials Science (RAMS) 2016 is the only UK national conference specifically aimed at recent appointees working in academic and industrial Materials Science research. This year’s conference will take place at Lancaster University over 2 days on 22nd-23rd September 2016.
RAMS 2016 will include symposia with plenary and contributed oral presentations and a poster session covering a broad range of materials science research, networking opportunities, as well as panel discussions to encourage dialogue and provide an open forum for career advice. One of the key aims of RAMS 2016 is to promote academic-industrial networking and collaborations.
This year’s plenary presentations will be given by Prof. Helen Gleeson OBE (University of Leeds), Prof. Peter Haynes (Imperial College), Dr Cinzia Casiraghi (University of Manchester) and Prof. Ken Lewtas (Lewtas Science & Technologies Consultancy). Sessions offering advice on career development and funding & impact will be delivered through panel discussions led by successful academic and industrial materials scientists and representatives from funding bodies. RAMS is targeted towards academic and industrial materials scientists near the start of their career and aims to help recent appointees build up their national collaborative networks, exchange experiences and ideas, and benefit from peer support.
We encourage early career researchers to submit an abstract for a contributed oral or poster presentation through our online system. Abstracts will be competetively assessed. The deadline for abstract submission is 22nd July 2016.
The registration fee is £75, with a discount available for students. This includes meals and refreshments, and the conference dinner on 22nd September to be held at Barker House Farm on Lancaster University campus.
Accommodation on campus costs £55 per night, with options available for the nights of 21st, 22nd and/or 23rd September.
