As in previous years, we encourage all Psi-k members to attend the annual "March Meeting" of the German Physical Society

DPG Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Division

The next meeting will be in

Regensburg, 7-11 March 2016

With more than 7000 expected participants this is by far the largest European physics conference, covering all aspects of condensed-matter and materials physics, including surface science, magnetism, soft and biological matter, and more. The conference language is English. In the versatile program, a special symposium will feature Psi-k interests and activities:

Frontiers of Electronic Structure Theory: Focus on Topology and Transport

http://th.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/meetings/DPGSym2016/

The symposium, organized by Ingrid Mertig, Giovanni Vignale, and Matthias Scheffler, comprises invited and contributed talks as well as posters.

Due to the large size of the meeting, early registration and accommodation reservation is strongly encouraged. The deadline for abstract submission is December 1, 2015. The website for abstract submission for the DPG Spring Meeting is: http://regensburg16.dpg-tagungen.de/programm/abstract.html. To submit an abstract for this symposium, choose “O: Surface science division”, and later, as topic: “Focus Session: Frontiers of Electronic Structure Theory - Focus on Topology and Transport”.

Another important symposium is organised by Joerg Neugebauer and Ralf Drautz:

Topical Session at DPG Spring Meeting 2016:
Integrated computational materials engineering for design of new materials

The symposium will provide a platform for the scientists from the various communities who are using computational tools to predict materials with tailored properties.

To submit an abstract to the symposium follow the link http://www.dpg-tagung.de/r16/submission.html?language=en and choose MM from the drop-down menu (“choose one of the parts”) on the first page, and choose Topical Session (Symposium der AGMM): “Integrated Computational Materials Engineering for Design of New Materials” (or any of the other topics, if appropriate) from the drop down menu on the second page.

Following tradition, the Psi-k community will organize a special evening

"Psi-k Scientific Get-Together"

during the week, hosted by the Psi-k Chairman and past Chairman. Beer and food will be served, sponsored by Psi-k.org. We expect about 400 Psi-k members and friends gathering together.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Regensburg. Let us make DPG Spring Meeting THE European condensed-matter conference!

Risto Nieminen
Psi-k Chairman

Peter Dederichs
Honorary Chairman
