We are organising a symposium on “Emerging and future computing” (B9) at the Psi-k Conference that will take place in Lausanne this summer (22-25 August):

The aim is to enable researchers to make a critical assessment of the prospects of both the forthcoming exascale transition in high-end computing and the emerging noisy intermediate-scale era for quantum computing.

We have three invited speakers:
- Nicholas Mayhall (Virgina Tech) - quantum algorithms for quantum chemistry
- Thomas Schulthess (ETH Zurich) - Director of the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre
- Matthias Troyer (Microsoft Research) - quantum software, algorithms and applications of future quantum computers

We also wish to encourage the submission of abstracts for 15-minute contributed talks, including from early career researchers. We welcome contributions presenting concrete examples of how the challenges arising with these transitions are being faced in first-principles materials calculations, as well as applications of quantum computing to our field.

The deadline for abstracts is the same as for early-bird registration: 31 May.
