Two week residential Summer School

Physics by the Lake is the UK Graduate Summer School in Condensed Matter Theory aimed at first and second year theory PhD students to enable them to meet some of the UK's leading theorists, as well as their peers as the next generation of Condensed Matter Theory theorists. Thanks to psi-k sponsorship, we are able to offer bursaries to EU students this year.

Courses are pitched at a graduate level, for non-specialist physicist in each topic.

Core courses offered include:

• Cold Matter and Quantum Fluids
• Electrons in Solids
• Statistical Mechanics
• Strongly Correlated Quantum Systems

As well as applications courses in:

• The physics of biological evolution
• Mesoscopic Physics and Quantum Coherence Quantum Information Processing Soft Condensed Matter • Topological phases Unconventional superconductivity
