Dear Colleagues,

I apologise for cross-posting.

Together with the ReproHack foundation and with support from EPSRC, the Sulis tier 2 HPC service at Warwick will be running a pilot HPC-focussed ReproHack over the Easter vacation. We hope to establish a format which can be used for future HPC intensive ReproHack events.

For those unfamiliar with ReproHacks, these typically consist of a single-day event during which groups of enthusiastic early career researchers attempt to reproduce a published research paper from the available code and data. Authors of the work are then given feedback on reproducibility in an exercise intended to benefit the authors of the published work as much as the event participants.

Many of us strive to ensure our research is as reproducible as possible. For HPC-intensive research papers, that reproducibility is rarely tested due to the necessary resource requirements. Previous ReproHacks have hence focussed on papers that can be rapidly reproduced using only a laptop or workstation.

Thanks to support from the EPSRC, we are able to allocate a large portion of the Sulis tier 2 service (both CPU and GPU resource) to a pilot HPC ReproHack which will run over several days in late March this year. Members of the Psi-k community are invited to submit papers for reproduction during this event. Academic mentors with experience of many tools/techniques used within the Psi-k community will be on-hand to assist participants with the reproduction and ensure feedback to authors is useful.

Papers should be submitted before the end of February and should be submitted via the above website. Be sure to submit to the HPC ReproHack @ Warwick event and use the tag HPC.

If you are interested in submitting a paper to the event but have some questions, then please contact me directly on the [email protected] email address.

Regards,

Albert
