Dear Colleagues,

I would like to draw your attention to the Faraday Discussion Meeting: New Horizons in Density-Functional Theory.

This meeting will take place 2nd-4th September 2020 in Cambridge at Downing college. The meeting will address the following topics:

  • New density-functional approximations and beyond
  • Challenges for large scale simulation
  • Strong correlation in density-functional theory
  • New approaches to study excited states in density-functional theory

We have gathered a range of leading researchers in the field for invited talks (see attached flyer).

The meeting is now open for registration and submission of abstracts for contributed talks and posters. If you would like to register please visit https://rsc.li/dft-fd2020 for further information.

Please note that the deadline for submission of abstracts for oral contributions is 25th November 2019 . This is early due to the unique format of the Faraday discussion meetings, for which a paper is submitted prior to the meeting (submission by 2nd March 2020), the time at the meeting is then focussed on the discussion of this paper and this is published together with the final manuscript. To learn more about this format see: https://youtu.be/2DpCCGEbzlE

Further information and key deadlines may be found in the attached flyer and on the web pages.

For those of you with interest in magnetic properties, I would also like to highlight a worksop on MAGnetically Induced Currents (MAGIC). This will take place at Peterhouse college, Cambridge, 6th-10th September 2020. Places are limited — if you would like to attend / find out more then please contact: Timothy Dickens, [email protected]

Yours Sincerely,

Andy Teale, Emmanuel Fromager, Paola Gori-Giorgi, Trygve Helgaker, Chris Kriton-Skylaris, David Tozer
