Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the following upcoming workshop:

Electronic structure of 2D materials: Theory meets Experiment

This workshop will take place at Diamond Light Source in Oxfordshire,
UK, on July 18th/19th July 2017. This workshop is jointly funded by the
UK's EPSRC, by the CCP9 Collaborative Computational Project, as part of
the "Theory Meets Experiment" series, and by Diamond itself.

The workshop theme will be electronic structure measurement and
prediction for layered materials. The main goal of this workshop is to
stimulate discussion between experimental and theoretical groups into
the challenges and opportunities in the electronic properties of
two-dimensional materials. A central theme will be electronic structure
prediction in two-dimensional materials, correlated quantum matter
effects, and modelling the photoemission process to allow direct links
between experiment and theory. The experimental focus will be on probing
electronic structure and many-body interactions using angle resolved
photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), and the new opportunities afforded
by spatially resolved ARPES with sub-micrometre resolution (nanoARPES).
The new I05 beamline is dedicated to the study of electronic structure
by ARPES: tours of the I05 facilities will be available during the
workshop and newcomers to ARPES and nanoARPES are welcome to attend.

Confirmed invited speakers:
      * Maria-Carmen Asensio, Synchrotron Soleil, Saint-Aubin, France
