The previously announced

Conference on A FAIR Data Infrastructure for Materials Genomics

(see below) will take place with the announced schedule, but as a VIDEO CONFERENCE! The line-up of plenary and invited speakers is impressive. Essentially everyone who is known and/or has impact in the field is there. Please watch the twitter video https://youtu.be/ZbEnlBbEduI and visit the conference web site, https:/th.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/meetings/fairdi2020/ .

And, consider taking part in the live and lively poster session!

With best wishes,

Matthias Scheffler, Thom Palstra, and Carsten Baldauf (conference organizers)

PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENT:

Conference on A FAIR Data Infrastructure for Materials Genomics
(https:/th.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/meetings/fairdi2020/)

FAIRness in data sharing and Big Data in materials science are urgent, important  scientific topics for this time and for the years to come. This Conference on a FAIR Data Infrastructure in Materials Genomics, addresses several facets of FAIR data infrastructures for materials science. It is organized by the association FAIR-DI e.V. (https://fair-di.eu) whose mission statement reads:

Scientific data are a significant raw material of the 21st century. To exploit its value, a proper infrastructure that makes it Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Re-purposable – FAIR – is  a must. For the fields of computational and experimental materials science, chemistry, and astronomy, FAIR-DI e.V. sets out to make this happen. This enables extensive data sharing and collaborations in data-driven sciences (including artificial intelligence tools) and advances basic science and engineering, reaching out to industry and society.

Topics of this conference include:

  • FAIR Data Sharing and Infrastructures,
  • Novel Materials Discovery,
  • Metadata and Ontologies,
  • NOMAD Encyclopedia,
  • Artificial Intelligence Approaches for Materials Research.

The conference will take place from 3 to 5 June at the Harnack House, the Conference Venue of the Max Planck Society, in Berlin. Presently we plan to accept up to 70 participants in order to assure a loose packing of the lecture hall (less than 50% of the seats occupied).

For more information, please visit the conference web site: https://th.fhi-berlin.mpg.de/meetings/fairdi2020/
