We would like to encourage abstract contribution for talks at the  EMRS Fall 2018 Meeting - Symposium I: "Atomic-scale design protocols towards energy, electronic, catalysis and sensing applications". The Symposium will take place in Warsaw, Poland, from September 17 to September 20.

The Symposium is open to researchers from all materials science branches (physics, chemistry, engineering, materials informatics, etc), focusing on investigations towards materials design for energy harvesting/storage, sensing, catalysis, magnetic and optoelectronic applications.

Hot topics covered by Symposium I are:
  • Design of 2D and 3D materials
  • Layered heterostructures and interfaces
  • Quantitative prediction of structural response to external stimuli
  • Catalytic, sensing, electronic, photonic and optoelectronic applications
  • Instrumentation and analysis technique development (hardware, software)
Confirmed Speakers:
  • Pablo Ordejon, Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia, Spain
  • Cesare Franchini, Technische Universität Wien, Austria
  • Alessandro Stroppa, CNR-SPIN L’Aquila, Italy
  • Jorge Iñiguez, Luxemburg Institute of Science and Technology, Luxemburg
  • Vincenzo Fiorentini, Università di Cagliari, Italy
  • David C. Smith, University of Southampton, UK
Scientific Committee:
  • David Lewis, University of Manchester, UK
  • Steven May, Drexel University, USA
  • Hongbin Zhang, Technische Universität Darmstadt, DE
